Retha Mae (Kendall) Gsell, 81
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Retha Mae (Kendall) Gsell of Chestertown died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, in Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 81.
Mrs. Gsell was born Jan. 10, 1925, in Rock Hall, daughter of the late Steve and Augusta Mae (Jacob) Kendall.
She attended school in Rock Hall and married Robert Edler. She later remarried to Claude Gsell.
She worked for a brief time with Rock Hall Sewing Factory and later in Elderly Care with Mrs. Hester Strong. For the majority of her life she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Gsell enjoyed gardening, canning and bowling when she was younger. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a caring friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Claude, on March 13, 2002.
She is survived by a son, Bob Edler and his wife Pat of Chestertown; two grandchildren, Rob Edler and his wife Kathy of Chestertown and Gale Chambers of Chestertown; and four great-grandchildren, Bud, Jessica, Robbie and Joseph Claude.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
