Lewes man charged with aggravated menacing

Lewes man charged with aggravated menacing

REHOBOTH BEACH — A 37-year-old man was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing following an incident at a hotel Sunday, Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said.

Authorities said that at approximately 8:20 p.m., troopers responded to the Inn at Rehoboth at 36012 Airport Road regarding an aggravating menacing incident. According to Cpl. DeMalto troopers made contact with a 31-year-old man, who said that while he was in the parking lot with his 4-year-old son and his 7-month-old daughter, an unknown man approached them with a knife and threatened to kill him, police said.

Troopers located the man, identified as Theodore Guajardo, across the street from the hotel with the knife sheathed on his hip.

Mr. Guajardo was taken into custody and also charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited and endangering the welfare of a child (two counts) He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $5,550 secured bond.
