REHOBOTH BEACH — The Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Co. held its annual Fire Fightin’ 5K Run/Walk on Aug. 21, raising over $17,000.

Seashore Striders, the event’s organizer, recently presented a check to the agency. With 279 runners this year, the money raised will support equipment and operational needs of the fire company.

Coordinator Amanda Peters said, “Without the support of the community sponsors, we would not have raised near that much. These are critical fundraising opportunities in order to allow the fire company to keep up with equipment and training needs and standards.”
