Derrickson, 88 SEAFORD - Rana S. "Rae" Derrickson passed away Jan. 24, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Derrickson was born August 31, 1924, in Georgetown, Del., the daughter of the late Wilmer I. and Anna Catherine Smith. Rana enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends; and especially enjoyed spending time at her summer home in Treasure Beach, where she spent many enjoyable hours sitting on her porch with her many friends and family. She loved watching the birds and the pedestrian activity that would pass in front of her porch. She was an avid Dept. 56 Snow Village Collector for many years. She has been referred to as being a "Mom to Everyone", for she had a very gentle, kind and loving nature. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest M. Derrickson; two sons Hughes Derrickson and Dennis Derrickson; a brother Gary Smith; twin brothers Wilmer and George Smith; a daughter-in-law Judith McDowell Derrickson; her brothers-in-law Donald "Dee Dee" and Montgar Derrickson; two sisters-in-law Anna Lee Derrickson and Elizabeth "Betty" Legates. She is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Sandra Fryling (Butch) and Patricia Hamstead (William) all of Seaford; and Cathy Brinsfield (Brian) of Salisbury, Md.; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Derrickson, of Dagsboro; four grandchildren Lisa Issler (Philip), of Cary, N.C.; Kimberly Fryling, of Salisbury, Md.; Derek Perdue (Sarah) of Parsonsburg, Md.; and Keith Brinsfield (Jen), of Louisville, Ky.; five great-grandchildren who were the light of her life, Abby, Bennett and Carson Issler; Kayden Fryling and Owen Perdue; as well as her sister-in-law, Lois McHugh; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at the Stein Highway Church of God, 425 East Stein Highway, Seaford where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Rev. Carol Hill will be officiating. Burial will be private in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington, Del. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Arr by McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, Harrington, DE.
