Ralph Lee Holland, 84 LEWES - Ralph Lee Holland departed this life following a lengthy illness Tuesday, July 22, 2008, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 84. Born on Aug. 14, 1923, the son of the late Delaware Hudson and Helen Ward. He served as a private in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Holland worked in construction as a block laborer for over 40 years. He was fun loving and will be remembered for his witty remarks. Mr. Holland is survived by his son, Ralph L. "Jigger" Purnell and daughter-in-law Gail H. Purnell; a daughter, Pearl E. Cannon; eight grandchildren, Ralph J. Floyd, Damon Brown, Brock Parsons, Tamaine Purnell, Ra'chelle Purnell, Sabrina Copeland, Ceresia Cannon Messick, Brian Perry and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be noon Saturday in Burton Chapel A.M.E Church, Eagle Crest Rd., Milton, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
