LEWES — The fourth annual Race to Benefit the Bays, organized by friends of the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays, will kick off Saturday along the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal.
The 3- and 5-mile races will be open to 14-foot and 12-foot-6-inch stand-up paddleboards, kayaks and surf skis, with cash prizes in each category with a minimum of five racers.
Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., and the first race will begin at 9:30. Through the generosity of the town of Henlopen Acres, the races will start and finish at its marina, 47 Tidewaters.
Racers will head north on the canal toward Lewes, around buoys placed at the halfway point for each race and back to the finish line at the marina.
Proceeds benefit the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and restoring the state’s inland bays and their watersheds.
The entry fee is $50. To register, visit here.
