Police pursue vehicle through Dover

DOVER -- An early morning car chase ended near south Camden, Dover police said.

Police "made contact" with a suspect Tuesday morning near Dover High School and pursued the vehicle across town, Dover spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said. The chase ended around 9:30.

The driver led police through a number of back roads and onto DuPont Highway, Cpl. Hoffman said. He said he did not think anyone had been injured in the chase but police were still investigating and it would be several hours before more information was released.

A witness said he followed the chase up and down DuPont Highway after almost being struck by the vehicle. Lawrence Whitt said the driver wrecked near Walmart Drive in Camden; he was concerned someone might have been hurt.

The incident was not related to a Saturday shooting in Dover that left two individuals dead, Cpl. Hoffman said.
