CAMDEN — No suspects have been identified as authorities investigate the source of a note threatening all first responders discovered last Friday night, police said.
Hart to Heart Vice President for Operations and Safety Cory Skidmore confirmed that a note was found on a trash can at the ambulance dispatching facility at 4601 S. DuPont Highway, and included a warning to “give all your employees bullet prof vest. We’re after all EMS, fire and police. Good luck ******.”
According to Delaware State Police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier, authorities were notified at approximately 10:50 p.m. after an employee noticed the note. The note was taken “to be examined and processed for any potential fingerprints,” he said.
Following standard procedure, the note’s content was taken seriously, Cpl. Fournier said.
“We treat any threat as a credible threat especially in light of events that have occurred involving law enforcement in the country,” Cpl. Fournier said.
Mr. Skidmore said the threatening note was the first of its kind since the Forest Hills, Maryland-based company began operations in 1997. Since 2004, approximately 35 employees have worked in Camden at one time or another, he said.
“We’re taking this very seriously and have notified staff members while taking preventative measures,” Mr. Skidmore said. “Our direction is to be aware, be safe and be on the lookout.
“Members are being told to travel in pairs and keep their units secured when on duty.”
