DOVER — When 1st District voters head to the polls for a special election Nov. 16, they will be choosing between Julia Pillsbury and Brandy Walker.
Ms. Pillsbury or Ms. Walker will fill the Dover City Council seat left vacant by Matthew Lindell, who resigned in September after announcing that his family was moving out of Dover. Because
Mr. Lindell had more than six months left on his term, city code dictates that a special election must be held to fill the vacancy.
The deadline to file for candidacy closed Monday.
Whoever wins the election will fill out the rest of Mr. Lindell’s term, which ends May 8, 2023. Gerald Rocha also represents the 1st District.
Polls — at Elks Lodge 1903, 200 Saulsbury Road — will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Nov. 16. Voting registration for the special election ends Saturday.
To vote in this election, you must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter and live in the 1st District. For more information, visit here or here.

The oath of office for the winner will be administered during council’s Dec. 13 meeting.
