After 11 weeks of the regular season, the high school football season gets serious now.

In the second year of the DIAA’s three-tiered classification, 28 teams have made the state tournaments, which get underway this weekend.

Here are our picks for the high school games as well as the regular-season finales for Delaware and Delaware State:

Andy Walter, Delaware State News: 102-35
Tim Mastro, Delaware State News: 108-29

Friday’s games

Class 3A state quarterfinals
8-Cape Henlopen (4-6) at 1-Smyrna (9-1), 7 p.m.

Cape Henlopen gets a second shot at Smyrna one week after losing to the Eagles by 27 points.

AW: Smyrna, 38-10; TM: Smyrna, 42-13; GF: Smyrna, 42-10.

Class 2A state first round
11-Del. Military (5-5) at 6-Lake Forest (8-2), 7 p.m.

After out-scoring its last three opponents 155-35, Lake Forest doesn’t want to slow down in tourney.

AW: Lake Forest, 34-21; TM: Lake Forest, 28-21; GF: Lake Forest, 20-14.

Class 1A state quarterfinals
8-St. Andrews (4-6) at 1-Laurel (10-0), 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs have looked unbeatable in bringing a 13-game winning streak into the state tournament.

AW: Laurel, 45-6; TM: Laurel, 42-14; GF: Laurel, 28-7.

7-Indian River (5-5) vs. 2-St. Elizabeth (9-1), at Abessinio Stadium, 7 p.m.

The Indians will try to improve on their 25-point loss to the Vikings in early October.

AW: St. Elizabeth, 35-14; TM: St. Elizabeth, 28-14; GF: St. Elizabeth, 34-20.

Saturday’s games

Class 1A state quarterfinals
6-Seaford (7-3) at 3-Wilm. Charter (8-1), noon

The Blue Jays have had a few tough losses but a tournament win would be a nice accomplishment.

AW: Seaford, 21-17; TM: Seaford, 16-12; GF: Seaford, 27-24.

Class 3A state quarterfinals
6-Dover (6-4) at Sussex Central (8-2), 7 p.m.

The Senators have to play a lot better than they did in their 21-0 regular-season loss at Central.

AW: Sussex Central, 24-7; TM: Sussex Central, 21-14; GF: Dover, 17-14.

Class 2A state first round
10-Delmar (4-6) at 7-Red Lion Christian (7-3), 7 p.m.

The Wildcats get the chance to avenge a one-point loss to Red Lion in the second game of the season.

AW: Red Lion, 27-14; TM: Red Lion, 21-20; GF: Red Lion, 28-21.

College
Delaware (4-3, 7-3) at Villanova (3-4, 5-5), 1 p.m.

Beating Nova has become a huge challenge for the Hens, who need a win to have any shot at the playoffs.

AW: Villanova, 24-21; TM: Delaware, 21-17; GF: Delaware, 24-20.

Campbell (4-6) at Delaware State (5-5), 2 p.m.

Finishing with a winning record for the first time since 2012 would be big for the Hornets.

AW: Delaware State, 17-14; TM: Campbell, 35-20; GF: Campbell, 20-13.
