It's an especially busy weekend in high school football with 15 of the 16 downstate teams in action.

There are 11 high school games slated for Friday not to mention the Delaware-Delaware State Route One Rivalry game on Saturday evening.

Friday’s games

Wilmington Charter (0-0) at First State Military (0-0), 3:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs would like to avenge a loss to Charter in last year’s season opener.

AW: Charter, 16-13; TM: Charter, 21-12; GF: Charter, 31-6.

Dickinson (0-0) at Early College (0-0), 4 p.m.

The Hornets begin their second season since looking for their first varsity victory.

AW: Dickinson, 20-8; TM: Dickinson, 24-14; GF: Dickinson, 20-0.

Indian River (0-0) at Stephen Decatur, Md. (1-0), 6 p.m.

The Indians are coming off a 6-5 campaign that included a DIAA state tournament win.

AW: Decatur, 24-14; TM: Decatur, 27-20; GF: IR, 18-16.

Smyrna (0-0) at Arundel, Md. (1-0), 7 p.m.

The Eagles have some new faces in key positions while Arundel is coming off a win over Dover.

AW: Smyrna, 28-21; TM: Smyrna, 38-21; GF: Smyrna, 24-14.

St. Georges (0-0) at Caesar Rodney (0-1), 7 p.m.

The Riders need to clean up the mistakes they made in last week’s season-opening loss to Hodgson.

AW: St. Georges, 33-7; TM: St. Georges, 31-13; GF: St. Georges, 24-13.

Salesianum (1-0) at Sussex Central (1-0), 7 p.m.

The Golden Knights are looking to avenge a pair of losses to the Sals from a season ago.

North County, Md. (0-1) at Milford (1-0), 7 p.m.

The Buccaneers look to improve to 2-0 against their second straight Maryland opponent.

Delcastle (0-0) at Sussex Tech (0-1), 7 p.m.

The Ravens aim to get back on track against a Delcastle squad it beat by 21 points a year ago.

Brandywine (0-0) at Laurel (1-0), 7 p.m.

Laurel needed a big second half to beat Brandywine in last season’s ‘Battle for the Bone.’

Seaford (1-0) at Tower Hill (0-0), 7 p.m.

An interesting north-south matchup between two teams that both had pretty good seasons last fall.

Wilmington Friends (0-0) at Delmar (0-0), 7:30 p.m.

Wildcats will be out to snap a 3-game losing streak to the Quakers, including a 1-point loss in last year’s playoffs.

Saturday’s games

Lake Forest (0-0) at Mt. Pleasant (0-0), 10:30 a.m.

The Spartans face an early-morning road trip upstate to take on a team it shut out in last year’s opener.

Dover (0-1) at Hodgson (1-0), noon

The Senators had some things to clean up after a frustrating loss to Arundel in their season opener.

AW: Dover, 21-12; TM: Dover, 31-14; GF: Dover, 24-20.

College

Delaware State (1-0) at Delaware (1-0), 6 p.m.

The Hornets will try again to to get their first win over the Blue Hens, who lead the all-time series, 10-0.

AW: UD, 28-14; TM: Delaware, 24-7; GF: Delaware, 35-7.
