After an interesting first weekend to the local football schedule, the Henlopen Conference's 14 teams are ready for Week 2.

Here's our predictions for all the games involving Henlopen teams as well as the state's three college programs.

 

Andy Walter, Delaware State News: 7-7

Tim Mastro, Delaware State News: 9-5

Ben Heck, Milford Chronicle: 9-5

Glenn Frazer, Radio 105.9: 8-6

Matt Pencek, WBOC-TV: 8-6

Today’s games

Games start at 7 p.m. unless noted.

First State Military (0-1) at Seaford (0-0), 4 p.m.

The Blue Jays want to get their season off to a good start vs. the fledgling FSMA.    

AW: Seaford, 33-8; TM: Seaford, 30-6; BH: Seaford, 14-7 ; GF: Seaford, 26-12; MP: Seaford, 20-16

St. Georges (0-1) at Caesar Rodney (1-0)

CR out to prove itself to Hawks after losing to them by combined 55 pts in last 2 years.         

AW: SG, 22-14; TM: CR, 20-14; BH: SG, 21-17; GF: SG, 20-14; MP: CR, 28-18

Franklin, Md. (1-1) at Smyrna (0-1)

After having 22-game winning streak snapped, Eagles face another big challenge. 

AW: Smyrna, 38-21; TM: Smyrna, 36-30; BH: Smyrna, 28-14; GF: Smyrna, 30-24; MP: Franklin, 35-26

Dover (0-1) at Woodbridge (1-0)

Senators need to get off to a better start than they did last week in loss to Archmere.

Polytech (0-1) at Indian River (1-0)

Panthers showed some promise last week while IR pulled off an opening-night upset.

Suitland, Md. (2-0) at Cape Henlopen (1-0)

The Vikings should get tested by 2-0 Suitland in their nonconference matchup.        

AW: Cape, 34-21; TM: Cape, 35-28; BH: Cape, 34-21; GF: Cape, 27-23; MP: Suit, 27-20

Salesianum (1-0) at Sussex Tech (0-1)

After getting shut out by Milford, the schedule only gets more difficult for the Ravens.         

AW: Sals, 42-6; TM: Sals, 34-7; BH: Sals, 35-17; GF: Sals, 24-14; MP: Sals, 34-15

Delaware Military (1-0) at Milford (1-0)

Last week’s 3-0 win over STech was nice, but Bucs may need more points to get to 2-0.

Delmar (1-0) at St. Mary’s, Md. (1-1)

The Wildcats are looking to avenge an eight-point loss to St. Mary’s a season ago.

Laurel (0-1) vs. St. Elizabeth (1-0), at Baynard Stadium

The Bulldogs will have to improve quickly from last week’s opening-night loss.

Sussex Central (1-0) at Queen Anne’s, Md. (2-0), 7:30 p.m.

The Golden Knights have split their last two meetings with Queen Anne’s.

Lake Forest (0-1) at Tanall (0-1), noon

The Spartans take another shot at getting their first victory of the season.

College

Delaware State (0-2) at West Virginia (1-1), noon

With a 13-game losing streak, it’s hard to imagine DSU faring well in Morgantown.

Wesley (0-0, 0-1) at College of New Jersey (0-1, 0-2), noon

The Wolverines have waited two long weeks to try to move past loss to Del. Valley.

Cornell (0-0) at Delaware (1-1), 3:30 p.m.

After both schools have played football for over 120 years, they finally square off.
