Friday’s games

Archmere at Dover, 6 p.m.

After losing its last two season openers, Dover wants to get off to a better start this year.   

AW: Dover, 13-6; TM: Dover, 28-10; BH: Archmere, 21-14; GF: Dover, 27-24; MP: Dover, 24-6.

Woodbridge at Cambridge-South Dorchester, Md., 6:30 p.m.

2016 Div. II state champs out to stretch their 15-game regular-season winning streak.         

AW: W-bridge, 33-14; TM: W-bridge, 23-17; BH: W-bridge, 35-0; GF: W-bridge, 32-21; MP: W-bridge, 28-20.

Caesar Rodney at Appoquinimink

After 1-9 campaign, CR is anxious to prove it can be more competitive this season.

AW: Appo, 28-20; TM: Appo, 8-7; BH: Appo, 38-14; GF: Appo, 21-13; MP: Appo, 30-16.

Milford at Sussex Tech

The Buccaneers were 9-2 last fall but Ravens have high hopes after going 5-5 a year ago.   

AW: Tech, 40-20; TM: Tech, 35-28; BH: Milford, 31-24; GF: Tech, 28-20;    MP: Tech, 28-14.

Wilmington Friends at Lake Forest

Lake hoping to christen its new turf field with win over last year’s Div. II state finalists.        

AW: Lake, 18-13; TM: Friends, 24-12; BH: Friends, 31-17; GF: Friends, 20-14; MP: Friends, 30-14.

Hodgson at Sussex Central

A Division I state tournament team last fall, Central wants to pick up where it left off.          

AW: Central, 24-14; TM: Central, 20-14; BH: Central, 24-7; GF: Central, 24-23; MP: Hodgson, 26-13.

Polytech at A.I. DuPont

Panthers have some returning talent to build around but winning on the road is difficult.      

AW: AI, 22-12; TM: Polytech, 14-8; BH: AI, 31-10; GF: AI, 20-14; MP: AI, 24-8.

Brandywine at Laurel

Laurel, which lost three games by a total of seven points last year, ready to start winning.   

AW: Laurel, 37-8; TM: Laurel, 45-6; BH: Laurel, 17-14; GF: Laurel, 17-7; MP: Laurel, 26-14.

Smithsburg, Md. at Delmar, 7:30 p.m.

Delmar looking for fast start after topping Smithsburg by 21 points in last season’s opener. 

AW: Delmar, 28-14; TM: Delmar, 35-14; BH: Delmar, 28-10; GF: Delmar, 28-14; MP: Delmar, 28-20.

Smyrna at Middletown, 7:30 p.m.

There may be a lot of scoring in the much-anticipated rematch of 2016 Div. I state finals.    

AW: Smyrna, 45-31; TM: Mtown, 42-38; BH: Smyrna, 28-24; GF: Smyrna, 38-26;     MP: Mtown, 35-31.

College

Delaware State (0-1) at Hampton (0-1), 7 p.m.

 DSU showed promise in loss to UD but really wants to end its 12-game losing streak.           

AW: Hampton, 24-17; TM: Hampton, 17-7; BH: DSU, 28-21; GF: Hampton, 26-20; MP: Hampton, 20-14.

Cape Henlopen at Cape May, N.J., 1 p.m.

Vikings have won the last four meetings with their cross-ferry rivals from N.J.

AW: CHen, 37-12; TM: CHen, 42-6; BH: CHen, 21-14; GF: CHen, 35-18; MP: CHen, 42-14.

College

Delaware (1-0) at Virginia Tech, 3:30 p.m.

Hens think they can hang with the No. 18 Hokies but history says that’ll be tough.

AW: Va. Tech, 42-7; TM: Va. Tech, 42-14; BH: Va. Tech, 38-14; GF: Va. Tech, 45-13; MP: Va. Tech, 49-13.
