MILFORD - Peter John Stencler died suddenly on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Milford Memorial Hospital. Peter was born in Philadelphia, Pa. the son of the late John and Anna (Jakofcich) Stencler. Soon after, his family moved to Chester, Pa. While growing up, Pete served as an alter boy at Resurrection Catholic Church in Chester. In 1953 Pete graduated from Chester High School then went to work for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a fireman for 10 years. He left the railroad to go to work at Boeing Helicopter, working for 34 years in maintenance before retiring in 1995. Following his retirement, Pete and his wife Roxanna moved to Delaware. He was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and was past president of the Holy Name Society. He loved to work with stain glass. He spent many hours in his shop making angels, sailboats and hummingbirds. He was a good, kind man and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was proud of the fact that his sons had become two Eagle Scouts and a Life Scout. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, his "Little Princess" Roxanna; five children John (Bonnie), Dan (Holly), Pete, Ed (Lucy) and Roxanna Pellegrino (John); two brothers William and Charlie (Brenda); 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 12 noon on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave., Milford, DE where friends may call from 10:30 am to 12 noon. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church Rectory Building Fund, 506 Seabury Avenue, Milford, DE 19963.
