Percy Lee Dyes, 72
CHURCH HILL - Percy Lee Dyes, died on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, in Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was 72. Mr. Dyes was born in Hurlock, on Sept. 20, 1936, to the late John William Dyes and Jenny Wheatley. He attended schools in Federalsburg and enlisted in the U.S. Army, and was later honorably discharged. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and later owned and operated Kent Island Aamco. He started an excavating business, Percy L. Dyes, serving Talbot, Queen Anne, and Caroline Counties. He operated the excavating business from the early 1980's until he retired in 2002. He enjoyed camping, flea markets and auctions, and raising horses. He was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Dyes and Doug Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Marie Annette Dyes, of Church Hill; two sons, Gary Gray and his wife Dixie, of Hurlock, and Walt Gray, of Church Hill; a daughter, Crystal Brittingham and her husband Mike, of Grasonville; close friends, Libby and Dallas Walls; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2008 at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 408 S.
