LINCOLN — Andrew White, 35, of Lincoln, was charged with resisting arrest and other counts following a pedestrian stop Saturday, Delaware State Police said.

Spokesman Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said that a trooper saw Mr. White walking north on Greentop Road, south of Ross Road, at approximately 1:33 p.m. The trooper was familiar with Mr. White and knew that there were several warrants for his arrest.

A stop was initiated, and during the interaction, Mr. White fled on foot, Cpl. DeMalto said. After a brief pursuit, the trooper attempted to take Mr. White into custody, but he resisted and had a physical altercation with the officer, police said. Subsequently, Mr. White was successfully apprehended.

The trooper was not injured, but there was damage to his uniform. Additionally, a search of Mr. White led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia, authorities said.

The suspect was charged with resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $2,400 secured bond.
