Pedestrian dies after struck by vehicle in Bridgeville

BRIDGEVILLE - A man died after being struck by a vehicle while walking across U.S. 13 Wednesday at approximately 6:37 p.m., authorities said.

Delaware State Police spokesman Trooper Raushan Rich said the man walked in front of a Chrysler 300 and was struck. The Chrysler swerved to the right and struck a Chevrolet Cruze, police said.

The man was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries, police said His identification was withheld until his family members were notified, police said.

Neither vehicle driver was injured, police said.

The incident occurred approaching the intersection of Rifle Range Road, according to Tpr. Rich.

The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

The Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this collision to contact Corporal J. Smith by calling 302-703-3267.
