
GREENWOOD - Pauline Webb Nickerson grew her wings and went to be with the Almighty Lord on Mon., Mar. 11, 2013. Her final days were spent with her loving family surrounding her. She touched the lives of many throughout her lifetime. During her illness, she spent most of her time with her beloved family and many visitors. Although her frail body began to give way to her illness, her fighting spirit, faith in God and determination kept her going before she very peacefully ascended to heaven. Born as Pauline Haymond on Jul. 28, 1934 to the late Harlan and Kathryn Haymond of Greenwood. She is the wife of David (Tommy) Nickerson. She was a lifelong resident of Greenwood as well. Pauline enjoyed spending quality time with her children, grandchildren, friends and family. She liked to listen to the gospel of Joel Osteen, enjoyed listening to classic country music and enjoyed watching Sponge Bob Squarepants and Tom and Jerry with her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching and feeding the variety of birds that were attracted to her many bird feeders each spring and summer. She was an excellent cook and always made sure that everyone she ever came in contact with left with a full stomach. Pauline attended Greenwood High School and was a member of the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church in Greenwood. Her avid cooking skills prompted her and her late husband to open and operate a very successful P&P Webb's Luncheonette in the 1970's on Market Street in Greenwood. Paul Webb's Tire Service was also launched at this time. After her husband's untimely passing, the luncheonette was sold and she worked at various restaurant establishments. Pauline was a co-founder and the backbone of the family owned and operated business, Delmarva Transportation. She was a firm believer of establishing a hard work ethic, having faith in the Lord and, keeping strong family ties. Pauline had a heart of gold and always put others before herself even up to her last days on earth. She was one of a kind. Pauline was a dear friend, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother. She never knew a stranger and would gladly give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. She was responsible for many wonderful memories that were created for her family to cherish forever. She will be dearly missed and can never be replaced. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, Paul Raymond Webb; her four brothers, Harlan Haymond Jr., Clayton Haymond, Eugene Haymond, Robert Haymond; and two sisters, Kathleen Willey, and Lola Gerardi. In addition to her husband of 33 years, she is survived by her daughter, Debra Prettyman and her husband Joe; her sons, Paul Raymond Webb Jr. and his wife Jamie, Robert Nichols and his wife Wanda, and David Haymond, all of Greenwood; seven grandchildren whom she dearly cherished, Joey Prettyman, Amber Prettyman, Kaylyn Warner, Paul Webb III, Scott Haymond, Rusty Emory and his wife Sara, and Ashley Nichols; two great-grand children; one brother, William Haymond and his wife Ann of Greenwood; numerous nieces and nephews and many "adopted" children who referred to her as "Aunt Pauline" or "Mom Mom." Friends and family may call on Fri., Mar. 15, 2013 at Fleischauer Funeral Home at 16 West Market Street in Greenwood from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sat., Mar. 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Johnstown Cemetery in Greenwood immediately following the services.
