FELTON - Patsy Ann (Killen) Smith passed peacefully at home early Tuesday morning surrounded in love and admiration by her family. A mother to one but a mother to everyone, a sister to three but a sister to everyone, a friend to everyone and a stranger to no one. Patsy was a lifelong resident of Felton and was a daughter of the late Medford and Eleanor (Wyatt) Killen; most importantly, a daughter of the Lord. Patsy was a Human Resources Representative for the State of Delaware for 33 years, retiring in 2000. After retirement, she continued her service to the community with Berry-Short Funeral Home and Short Funeral Services, where she worked as a hostess for 14 years. Her loyal support to the funeral home, and all she did to assist with the preparation for services from behind the scenes, was immeasurable and she will truly be missed by her funeral home family. Patsy's home was always open and over the years she had lovingly cared for several family members. She truly had a servant's heart for her family, friends and community. Patsy was a member of Felton U.M. Church. She also assisted with serving dinners for Felton Community Fire Company. Patsy is survived by her loving husband, Marvin W. Smith; a son, Marvin M. Smith and Jerry, of Orlando, Fla; a brother, Ronald Killen; sister, Janie DeVeau and Jeff; sister, Lee Porter and Terry, all of Felton; nieces and nephews, Lisa, Chris, Jennifer, Andy, Matthew, Ashley and Jordan, and many special great nieces and great nephews; sister-inlaw, Reba Jarrell; and a host of extended family and friends. A funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Felton Community Fire Company, 9 E. Main Street, Felton, DE 19943. A visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, May 17, 2014 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, DE 19963. Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, Felton U.M. Church, PO Box 247, Felton, DE 19943 or Felton Community Fire Company, 9 E. Main Street, Felton, DE 19943.
