Ormil 'Doc' Savage Sr., 82
OCEAN VIEW - Ormil "Doc" Savage Sr., of Ocean View, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at his home. He was 82.
He was born in Williamsville, son of the late A. Frank and Gretchen (Wainwright) Savage.
While serving with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, Doc was wounded at Guadalcanal and was a Purple Heart recipient.
He attended the Bay Shore Community Church in Gumboro.
Doc was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, in 1994.
He is survived by two daughters, Connie Lathbury and her husband Chip of Dagsboro and Wanda Weber and her husband Wayne of Frankford; a son, Ormil Savage Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Ocean View; five grandchildren, Jonah Lathbury of Dagsboro, Stacie Mills of Ocean View, Leah Clark of Frankford, Andrew Weber of Frankford and Ryan Savage of Bishopville, Md.; nine great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Irma Timmons, Viola Clark and Myrtle Hitchens.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bay Shore Community Church, Gumboro, where friends may call after 10 a.m.
Burial will be in St. George's Cemetery, Clarksville.
