Order of the Eastern Star donates to toy closet at Seaford hospital

Posted

SEAFORD — The Queen of Sheba chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of Laurel visited the TidalHealth Foundation at TidalHealth Nanticoke on May 17.

After learning about the opening of Brooke’s Toy Closet at the Seaford hospital, the members decided to support the effort to provide a toy to every child who enters the emergency department.

Eastern Star members — who are wives, mothers, daughters, sisters and widows of master Masons — shared how touched they were by Brooke’s story and how it fit their mission to build an environment dedicated to charity, truth and lovingkindness by uplifting each other and serving their communities.

In 2009, at age 4, Brooke Mulford, originally of Salisbury, Maryland, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive form of cancer. She endured numerous rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, several surgeries, two stem cell transplants, multiple bone marrow biopsies and blood transfusions but passed in June 2017.
