Posted

HARTLY — One death occurred in a single-vehicle crash outside Hartly on Friday, Delaware State Police Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said.

Authorities said that, at approximately 8:53 p.m., a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo was traveling south at a high speed on Bryants Corner Road, south of Pine Tree Road. The driver failed to negotiate a curve, and as a result, the car exited the road and struck a wood post next to a private drive. The car then spun back onto Bryants Corner Road and came to a stop partially off the street.

The driver, who has yet to be identified, was not wearing his seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, Cpl. DeMalto said. No other vehicles were involved.

The road was closed for approximately three hours, while the scene was cleared.

The Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate and asked any witnesses to contact Master Cpl. W. Booth at 302-698-8451, send a message via the state police Facebook page or contact Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-847-3333.
