ODESSA — One person died in a Monday fire that heavily damaged a home in the 200 block of Oak Drive in the Airmont development, authorities said.
The blaze, reported at 9:30 a.m., occurred just south of the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. The Odessa Fire Co. arrived on the scene with the house engulfed in flames. Firefighters discovered one person inside the home, officials said.
State fire investigators were called to the scene to determined the origin and cause.
The Delaware Division of Forensic Science will conduct an autopsy for positive identification and cause of death. There were no other reported injuries.
Damage was estimated at $200,000. This incident remains under investigation.
