The woman was driving a Honda CRV westbound at approximately 11:21 p.m. when struck by an eastbound Ford Explorer that crossed the center line just west of Revel Road, Delaware State Police said.
Police said the Ford Explorer had struck a deer prior to the crash, continued eastbound and then crossed over the center line for unknown reasons prior to the impact.
The Honda driver, of Salisbury, was wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. Identification is pending notification of next of kin.
The Ford driver, a 26-year-old Millsboro woman, was not wearing a seat belt, police said. She was transported to Beebe Hospital with minor injuries.
The road was closed for approximately four hours while the investigation was completed and the roadway was cleared.
