SILOAM -- Olin Page Bounds, died May 8, 2015. He was born on Nov. 25, 1925 to Wilmer K. and Grace O. Bounds of Siloam. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille M. Abbott Bounds in Oct. of 2006. He is survived by his daughter, Gloria Bounds Shores; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. During World War II, he was assigned to the Combat Air Service Unit in the South Pacific where he helped liberate several islands, including the Philippines. He also earned the recognition of the "Golden Dragon" several times after crossing the exact point where the International Date Line and the Equator meet. This was an accomplishment that he would speak of with joy. He was employed as Manager of Excelsior Manufacturing Co. After approximately 20 years in the garment business, he and his wife opened two businesses repairing sewing machines and selling fabrics and merchandise under the name Lucille's Sewing Supplies. In his later years, Tiffany's of New York chose his velvet jewelry box liners that he designed and produced to accompany products sold at Salisbury Pewter. He was a founding member of the Nassawango Golf and Country Club, as well as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Salisbury. A celebration of life was held on Friday, May 15, 2015, at the Siloam House of Fellowship. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
