HARRINGTON — A 25-year-old man was arrested on child endangering charges Tuesday after a 5-year-old in his care ingested medicines and required hospital treatment, Harrington Police said.
Authorities said investigation found that Jack A. Baull III, of the 200 block of Commerce Street in Harrington, was watching the child on Aug. 19 when he allegedly crushed up medications and placed it in a drink in an attempt to get the minor to sleep.
The method had been conducted more than once, police said.
The child’s mother went to Milford Memorial Hospital for possible ingestion of unknown medications, police said.
The hospital contacted police as investigation began. The child was treated at the hospital and released.
Mr. Baull turned himself in to police Tuesday, authorities said.
He was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Mr. Baull was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach and released on $2,000 unsecured bond.
