Norman Day Legates

MILFORD - Norman Day " Skeeter" Legates passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Harrison Senior Living, Georgetown. Mr. Legates worked at MilDel in Milford and for Chimes at Dover Air Force Base prior to retirement. He attended the Church of the Brethren in Farmington for 26 years where he and his late wife Cordelia were married and attended church. Mr. Legates was well- liked by his church congregation. He was a fighter and refused to accept life's limitations. Skeeter enjoyed sports, especially NASCAR racing, Baltimore Orioles baseball and, football. He was a Civil War buff. His wife Cordelia passed away in February of this year. He is also preceded in death by his father Lawrence Legates, Sr. He is survived by his mother Bertha D. Legates; a twin brother Lawrence D. Legates, Jr. and wife Margaret; a sister Marion Jestice and husband Laurence; nephew Lawrence Legates III; and niece Jennifer Legates. He is also survived by five stepsons: Travis Norman and wife Sherry, James Norman, Mark Norman, Sam Norman and Richard Norman; and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Monday, March 28, 2016 at 7:30 PM in the Chapel of Berry Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, DE where friends may call from 6:30 to 7:30 for a viewing. Interment will be private at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington, Del.
