TANGIER ISLAND, Va. -Norma B. Pruitt, 84, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006 at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield, Md., where she had been a resident for almost one year.
Born on Tangier Island Jan. 9, 1922, she was a daughter of the late John and Eva Crockett Dise. Her husband, William C. "Toby" Pruitt, died July 19, 1999.
She was a homemaker and a member of the New Testament Congregational Church on Tangier Island.
She is survived by three sons, Donald Pruitt and his wife Mary Lou of Gaithersburg, Md., William "Bit" Pruitt and his wife Jeannie of Tangier Island, and Preston Lee Pruitt and his wife Lois Ann of Chincoteague, Va.; one sister, Eva Marie Pruitt of Tangier Island; three grandchildren, Matthew Pruitt, Suzanne Pruitt, and Carolee Charnock; two great-grandchildren, Austin Pruitt and Brittany Pruitt; and three step-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Pruitt in 1951; a grandson, Malcolm Pruitt in 2002; and her brother, Malcolm Dise.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, at 2 p.m. at the New Testament Congregational Church on Tangier Island. Mr. Danny McCready and Mr. Bill Frank Pruitt officiated. Burial was in the Church Cemetery.
Arrangements were in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.
