WAYNE, N.J. — Wesley College’s football players didn’t want to waste any time looking back at last week’s loss to Salisbury.

They didn’t.

Tight end Jason Rigby caught a 15-yard touchdown pass less than three minutes into the game and the No. 18 Wolverines cruised to a 45-7 victory over William Paterson in NJAC football on Saturday afternoon.

Wesley (2-1 NJAC, 5-1 overall) bounced back from its first loss of the season by winning its sixth game in a row over the Pioneers (0-3 NJAC, 2-4 overall).

Quarterback Jon Mullin completed 23-of-32 passes for 365 yards with three TDs and no interceptions. Senior Ruhann Peele pulled in nine catches for 141 yards and a pair of TDs.

Peele caught scoring passes of four and 24 yards as Wesley opened up a 31-7 halftime advantage. He’s scored 12 touchdowns this season, including 11 receiving ones.

Rigby, a former Polytech High quarterback, caught three passes for 28 yards.

Wesley also got two short scoring runs from freshman fullback Leroy Pendleton and a four-yard TD run from Markquise Normand. Nick Bruhn booted a 31-yard field goal and all six of his PAT attempts.

Xavier Drummond (Sussex Tech) was the Wolverines’ leading rusher with 55 yards on seven carries.

The lone touchdown for Paterson came from Terrique Riddick, a freshman from Woodbridge High, who scored on an 85-yard run in the second quarter. He finished with 128 yards on 14 carries as Wesley out-gained the Pioneers 543 yards to 230 in the contest.

Riddick was one of four Woodbridge High grads playing in the game. Defensive back R.J. Massey added a pair of tackles for Paterson.

Linebacker Dante Daniel had a team-high six tackles for Wesley, which next hosts Montclair State at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
