DOVER — Delaware’s counties collectively elected a total of 13 new school board members on Tuesday. The polls closed at 8 p.m. The Delaware Department of Elections released “unofficial” poll results shortly afterward.

New Castle and Kent counties had contested elections in five public school districts and Sussex County had elections in two.

All new school board members will serve for five-year terms. New board members’ terms will begin on July 1.

Kent County race results

•In Caesar Rodney district, David Failing of Camden-Wyoming won the at-large school board seat with 73 percent of the vote.

•In Capital, Joan Loewenstein Engel of Dover won the at-large seat with 64 percent of the vote.

•In Lake Forest, Phillip Thomas of Harrington won the at-large seat with 51 percent of the vote.

•In the Milford district, Judith Purcell of Milford took the Area D school board seat unopposed and Ronald Evans of Milford won the at-large seat with 39 percent of the vote.

•In Smyrna School District, Vetra Evans-Gunter of Smyrna won the at-large seat with 90 percent of the vote.

Sussex County race results

•In the Seaford School District, Michael Kraft won the school board seat up for election.

•In Woodbridge, Paul Breeding won the open school board seat.

New Castle County races

•In Appoquinimink, Charlisa Edelin won the at-large seat.

•In Brandywine, John Skrobot III won the “District D” school board seat.

•In Christina district, Angela Mitchell won the “District B” school board seat and Meredith L. Griffin Jr. won the “District G” seat.

•In Red Clay Consolidated School District, Ashley Sabo won the “District C” seat.
