WILMINGTON — Kelly Hicks Sheridan was publicly sworn in for her first term as a Delaware Family Court commissioner on Friday.
The swearing-in took place at the Leonard L. Williams Justice Center, where Family Court Chief Judge Michael K. Newell administered the oath of office, and Commissioner Sheridan’s husband, Joseph Sheridan Jr., held the prayer book.
Her parents, Robert and Victoria Hicks, assisted in putting on her judicial robe, and deputy attorney general Kelly Singleton and Mr. Sheridan offered remarks.
Prior to joining the bench, Commissioner Sheridan was a deputy attorney general in the Delaware Department of Justice’s Juvenile Delinquency and Trial Unit. She also prosecuted cases in the Special Victims Unit, the New Castle County Felony Trial Unit and the Domestic Violence Unit. She has worked in the Justice Department since 2014.
She also was employed by Family Court Chief Judge Chandlee Johnson Kuhn as an intern, law clerk and project manager from February 2013 to January 2014.
