New EV charging stations coming to Delaware

Posted

Electric vehicle drivers will have more opportunity to charge up along Delaware roads with the installation of 14 fast-charging stations funded by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.

Grants were awarded to several businesses and one municipality for the 14 sites, a news release said. The chargers will be accessible 24 hours a day for a fee.

The sites selected will be in downtown areas, shopping centers, hotels and traditional gas stations, providing both en-route and neighborhood charging opportunities.

The funding builds upon Delaware Clean Transportation Incentive Programs, which include rebates for light-duty vehicles and Level 2 charging stations. The monies for the fast-charging stations come from the Environmental Mitigation Trust.
