SMYRNA - Nancy R. Vodvarka passed away peacefully at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Del. on Monday, Oct. 8, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born Sept. 25, 1953 in Dover, Del., the daughter of the late Wendell and Hazel Rochester. She worked for 34 years as an Administrative Assistant in the Presidents Office at Del Tech in Dover. Nancy enjoyed reading, going to the beach and pool, and spending time with family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Joseph S. Vodvarka; and the family Pug, Gus. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Joseph; three daughters, Laura V. Massey and her husband Mark of Smyrna, Ashley J. Vodvarka of Dover, Del., and Traci J. Vodvarka of Smyrna; her only grandchild, Paisley J. Massey of Smyrna; four sisters, Janice Doolittle and her husband, Steve of Kellerton, Iowa, Susan Wooleyhand and her husband, Noble of Viola, Del., Linda Coker and her husband Walter of Clayton, Del, and Norma Rochester of Smyrna; a brother, Gilbert Rochester and his wife, Kathy of Warwick, Md.; her mother-in-law, Mildred S. Vodvarka of Hartly, Del.; numerous nieces; nephews; and extended family members; and her life-long friend, Jan Reed of Smyrna. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening, Oct. 10, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday morning, Oct. 11, 2012 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 11 am. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
