DOVER - Nadia Wahba Girgis passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on October 26, 2013. Nadia was born in Cairo, Egypt on October 10, 1936. She was one of seven children born to Amelia Gabalawi and Wahba Ishak. Nadia and her husband Adly S. Girgis emigrated to the United States in 1969, seeking the American Dream of freedom and opportunity for their daughters. Nadia worked in retail most of her life in the US, including running the family business she and her husband purchased in the 1980s. She placed great importance on education for her daughters and she was determined that each of them would obtain a college degree. An excellent cook, Nadia was passionate about feeding family, friends, and those in need. Her life was centered around God and family, and she enjoyed being surrounded by her loved ones during the holidays. Nadia is survived by her husband of 53 years, Adly Girgis; her daughters and sons-in-law, Adele and Jean-Pierre Gabardo, Izabel and Brandon Roa, and Arlene and Benjhe Benton; as well as six grandchildren, Christine Gabardo, Philip Gabardo, Gabriella Roa, Abigail Roa, Trace Benton, and Alexander Benton. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1, 2013 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon, Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover. To honor her memory, the family is asking that donations be made to the Calvary Assembly of God Food Pantry 1141 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, DE 19901, and the Holy Cross Samaritans, 631 S.
