LAUREL – A 32-year-old Laurel man who is the suspect in the recent death of a Seaford woman is behind bars in Delaware, facing murder and other charges following extradition from Virginia.

Joseph A. Beck

On Thursday, April 4, Joseph A. Beck was extradited back to Delaware from Stafford County, Virginia, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

Beck, identified by authorities as the suspect in the murder of 34-year-old Tia Tucker, was charged with:

  • Murder First Degree;
  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony;
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited; and
  • Abuse of Corpse.

Beck was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $2,062,000 cash-only bond, Cpl. Jaffe said.

Ms. Tucker was found deceased along a road near Laurel, on the side of S. Shell Bridge Road near Broad Creek Estates on March 9.

Authorities determined the cause and manner of death was homicide, sustained from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim was identified by the Delaware Division of Forensic Science, Cpl. Jaffe said.
