DOVER — A 28-year-old man was charged with first-degree murder by abuse or neglect regarding the death of a 1-year-old child in his care, Dover Police said Monday.
Edjuan BlackshearEdjuan Blackshear was arrested on Jan. 2 after a child succumbed to multiple series injuries to his head, torso and internally, authorities said.
Police were initially called to a residence in the 800 block of Woodcrest Drive for a child reportedly not breathing.
The child was taken by medical personnel to Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital and later transported to A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital, according to police.
Time of death was announced as 12:35 a.m. Jan. 3, authorities said.
Mr. Blackshear was committed to Sussex Correctional institution in Georgetown in lieu of $101,000 cash bond. Dover Police and the Delaware Office of the Attorney General investigated the case.
