Mountaire Farms sets packing day for Christmas for Thousands

Posted

SELBYVILLE — Once again, Mountaire Farms is partnering with hundreds of churches and nonprofits in several states this month to provide complete meals for families in need.

On Delmarva, Mountaire’s annual Christmas for Thousands packing event will be Dec. 21, starting at 8 a.m. at its Selbyville warehouse. That’s when more than 150 volunteers will assemble 3,000 meal boxes with enough food to feed 12,000 people. Soon after, those boxes will be distributed to families, churches and charitable groups who have reserved them.

Each Mountaire Cares kit can feed a family of four. They include a Mountaire chicken, corn, green beans, yams, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and brownie mix.

“The need always seems greater during the holidays, and we are blessed to be able to do what we can to help families this time of year,” said J.R. LaPearl, director of Mountaire Cares, the company’s charitable arm. “What I love about these events is that it brings people together to share love and kindness to one another. That is what Christmas is all about.”

Christmas for Thousands will also be held at two locations in North Carolina. It joins Mountaire’s Thanksgiving for Thousands and a third meal-distribution event at Easter.
