WOODSIDE - Miriam Emily Grier, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012 in her home after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on May 26, 1933, daughter of the late James and Florence Morris. Emily graduated Valedictorian, Class of 1951, from Caesar Rodney High School. She worked briefly at a law office as a secretary and for John Charleton School as a teacher's aide. She was a member of the Woodside Methodist Church. She loved to dance and enjoyed attending the Modern Maturity Center dinner dances. Emily's family was her life and will be fondly remembered as a caretaker for everyone. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hampton "Pete" Grier; brothers, Dickie Morris and James Morris, Jr.; and a sister, Jenny Garey. She is survived by a son, Larry H. Grier and his wife Hope, of Woodside; a daughter, Deborah S. Grier, of Woodside; grandchildren, Kristopher H. Grier, and Amanda M. Grier; step-grandchildren, Michael Popivchak, and Jessica Stevens; five great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and an extended family of friends. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather two hours earlier. Burial will follow in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Woodside Methodist Church, P.O. Box 45, Woodside, DE 19980 or Delaware Hospice, 911 S.
