MILTON - Sarah Campbell, 27, of Dover, and Davonta Brown, 29, of Woodside, were arrested on drug and weapon charges following a vehicle pursuit early Thursday morning, authorities said.

According to Delaware State spokesperson Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto, Ms. Campbell was driving at a high rate of speed on Coastal Highway when a trooper attempted to make a stop at approximately 1:26 a.m.

The vehicle accelerated away from police, Cpl. DeMalto said, and was later stopped when police deployed a tire deflation drive to disable it in Rehoboth Beach. Ms. Campbell and Mr. Brown were taken into custody without further incident.

Police said that a search of the vehicle at the scene led to the discovery of approximately 140.15 grams of marijuana, approximately 0.56 grams of suspected heroin, a prescription pill, various items of drug paraphernalia, and a .22 LR handgun with an obliterated serial number.

Computer checks of Mr. Brown revealed that he was a convicted felon prohibited from possessing a firearm, police said.

Among other offenses, Ms. Campbell and Mr. Brown were each charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number, and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.

Following arraignments, Mr. Brown was given a $60,750 cash bond and Ms. Campbell a $43,000 cash bond. They were then committed to Sussex Correctional Institution.
