MILLSBORO – Town of Millsboro police on Tuesday charged 33-year-old Shanice Chandler of Millsboro after another Millsboro woman was found dead in her apartment of an apparent drug overdose early Sunday morning.

Chandler was arrested on charges of Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Reckless Endangering First Degree, according to Millsboro Police Department spokesman Sgt. David Moyer.

Shanice Chandler

Around 3:34 a.m. June 16, Millsboro police officers responded to a 911 call for a 31-year-old woman suffering from a suspected drug overdose. The woman was pronounced dead on scene and authorities suspect she died of a drug overdose, Sgt. Moyer said.

The incident occurred at the Brandywine Apartment complex located near the intersection of Monroe Street and Wilson Highway in Millsboro.

Police arrested Chandler on June 18.

While investigation is still ongoing, officials determined that Shanice Chandler provided the victim with narcotics just prior to her death, according to Sgt. Moyer.

Chandler was arraigned out of Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to the Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in lieu of $12,000 cash bail.

The investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. David Moyer at 934-8174 or email David.Moyer@cj.state.de.us.
