GEORGETOWN – Town of Georgetown police arrested a 59-year-old Millsboro man accused of assaulting and choking another man during a robbery Friday, Sept. 13.
The suspect, Joseph Selby, was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $10,000 cash bond. He faces charges of Robbery Second Degree and Strangulation, according to Georgetown Police Det. Joey Melvin.

At about 3 p.m., police responded to an initial call for a fight on South Bedford Street near Lynch’s Lane but were subsequently informed the incident was a robbery and the suspect had fled on foot.
Prior to arriving at the scene, officers located a subject matching the suspect’s description and took him into custody without incident.
Investigation revealed the victim was giving the suspect a ride to Georgetown during which the suspect demanded money. The victim managed to stop the vehicle and exit, and the suspect got out and began to assault the victim, Det. Melvin said.
The suspect took the victim to the ground and started to choke the victim while grabbing the victim’s wallet, Det. Melvin said. The suspect then ran northbound from the scene, according to police investigation.
