Harmon, 95 FRANKFORD - Mildred Virginia Harmon, departed this life on Friday, April 27, 2012 at her daughter's home in Millsboro. She was born to the late Virginia and George Lockwood on Aug. 20, 1916 in Frankford, Del. Mildred received her early education at Frankford Elementary. She married the late Leroy Harmon, Sr. in 1935. Mildred was a poultry worker and caregiver until she retired in 1978. She was passionate about caring for her family and gardening and we will hold close fond memories of her tilling her garden in her huge straw hat. Prior to her illness, Mildred was an active member of Antioch A.M.E. Church, serving on the trustee board and singing in the Sons & Daughters Choir, often bringing tears to the eyes of members leading the hymn, "Around God's Throne". She was a very stylish and humorous woman and will be missed for her angelic voice, warm heart and beautiful spirit. Mildred's strength and courage were immeasurable. They just don't make women like her anymore! Her strength is an heirloom that all of her descendants will carry on forever. In addition to her parents, Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Harmon, Sr; and five siblings, Reanna, identical twin sister, Minnie, Norman, Boe and George. Mildred is survived by her three children, Carolyn Jones (William) of Millsboro, Leroy Harmon, Jr. (Ellen) of Selbyville and George Harmon (Mary) of Frankford. She also is survived by ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The viewing for Mrs. Harmon will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral service will commence at 12:00 noon on Friday, May 4th at Antioch A. M.E. Church located at 194 Clayton Avenue, Frankford, DE.
