SALISBURY - Mildred Elliott Williams Heffler died Saturday, Apr. 15, 2017. Born in Eden, she was the daughter of the late Fred Thomas and Ida Washburn Elliott, where she grew up on the family farm. A graduate of Wicomico High School, she served as a PTA president for Delmar Elementary School and as youth Sunday school leader for the First Methodist Church in Delmar, in her earlier years. She was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Salisbury, where she enjoyed the Souper Seniors Group and her volunteer work at the Joseph House. She was preceded in death by her first husband, LaMonte Williams. Her second husband, Martin Heffler, died in 1986, also on April 15. She was the last surviving sibling and was predeceased by brothers, Paul and Fred Jr.; and sisters, Lena Merva and Hilda Thompson. She is survived by two daughters, Isabelle Williams Stottlemyer, of Clear Spring, Md., and Teresa Hammerbacher, of Salisbury; four grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Thursday, Apr. 20, 2017, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Salisbury. Entombment was at Wicomico Memorial Park. Arrangements are in the care of Bounds Funeral Home in Salisbury.
