Hopkins, 85 Greenwood - Mildred Bertha Hopkins departed this life on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. Born in Bridgeville, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel Walters and Helen Johnson Walters Clayton. She was raised by her uncle and aunt, the late James and Elizabeth Walters. Her husband, Victor S. Hopkins, also preceded her in death. Mrs. Hopkins was a member of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church in Bridgeville where she served as a member of the Widows Club. Prior to retiring, she worked at DelAgra, formally Delaney Product Company, in Bridgeville and was self-employed as a daycare provider. In addition to her parents, uncle, aunt, and husband, she was also preceded in death by one cousin, James L. Walters, Jr., and one grandson, Jerry "Wolf" Woolford. She will be lovingly remembered by four daughters, Geraldine (Richard) Burris of Bridgeville, Juanita Weal, Helena (Lonnie) Hilliard, and Brenda Davis, all of Greenwood; four sons, Larry (Jamie) Hopkins of Harrington, Victor (Sharon) Walters of Georgetown, Melvin (Michelle) Hopkins of Greenwood, and Clark (Stephanie) Hopkins of Maryland; one sister, Estella Hopkins of Bridgeville; 15 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, in-laws, and friends. Mrs. Hopkins will lie in repose on Saturday, May 24, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church located on 108 First Street in Bridgeville. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery (Middleford) located on Calvary Lane in Seaford.
