US--Biden Laptop-FBI Officials Charged

Judge cites 'weaponization' in tossing charges for ex-FBI agents accused of lying about Hunter Biden

SUMMARY: A federal judge in Washington has dismissed a criminal complaint against two former FBI officials accused of lying to Congress about Hunter Biden, saying the investigation that produced the charges was overtly political. The judge said Monday what transpired in the case was “weaponization.” The Justice Department may still have an opportunity to pursue a grand jury indictment against the ex-FBI officials. The case accused the former officials of misleading Congress in 2023 about their knowledge of efforts to investigate a laptop the Justice Department says was dropped off by Joe Biden’s son at a Delaware computer repair shop in 2019. The case sought to echo grievances by Donald Trump and his Republican allies.

US--Election 2026-Voter Voices-ABRIDGED

Voters fear the America they've known is slipping away. On that, the left and right agree

SUMMARY: There’s plenty of angst among U.S. voters on the eve of Election Day. Over the past week, The Associated Press interviewed people who already cast their midterm ballots. Whether they’re from the left or the right, they’re worried that the America they’ve known is slipping away. They see the political class stirring up anger and hate and turning neighbors against each other. One Pennsylvania voter says he sees his ballot as an attempt to put the brakes on what he calls “just the madness.” The trepidation is there, most sharply from those who oppose President Donald Trump but also from many who support the Republican president.
