DOVER - Michael Tocchetti passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at home. Michael was born September 22, 1944 in Stafford Springs, Connecticut to the late Victor U. Tocchetti and Cecelia Trapp Tocchetti. Michael served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-1969. He was a licensed funeral director and mortician, and for the next 10 years owned and operated Tocchetti Funeral Home in CT with his brother, Mark. In 1980 Michael joined the Civil Service and moved to Frankfurt, Germany with his family where he worked at Frankfurt mortuary for 13 years, returning to San Antonio, TX for a year, and then to the Carson Port Mortuary at the DAFB working as Mortuary Director during several significant incidents, most notably Flight 77/Pentagon. After his retirement from Civil Service in 2002, he worked for Torbert Funeral Chapels in Dover. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover, Del Vets, USO Board member, and the Eagle Creek Golf Club of DAFB. Michael was an avid golfer and enjoyed breakfast with friends at the Hollywood Diner. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Francine Tocchetti of Dover; his daughters, Audrey Gaillard of Dover, and Alison Bergeron of Stafford Springs, Conn.; his son, Michael Tocchetti of Milford; his brother, Mark Tocchetti of Stafford Springs, Conn.; and his grandchildren, Tyler and Brooke Gaillard, Emily and Rachel Bergeron, Cory and Greg Tocchetti. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m., Monday October 5th, 2015 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd (Rt.10), Dover. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
