Michael Richard Barto, 57
PARSONSBURG, Md. - Michael Richard Barto, of Parsonsburg, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, in his home. He was 57. He was born in West Grove, Pa., on March 23, 1951; however, he was raised in Milford, Del., by his mother, June Goldey Barto and father, the late Richard "Dick" Barto. He was a 1969 graduate of Milford High School, and went on to attend Juniata College in Pennsylvania. He moved to Salisbury in 1995, where he married his wife of 14 years, Sharon Barto, and began attending St. Francis Del Sales Catholic Church. Michael was as a Master carpenter who continued his love of carpentry with Paul Elliott Construction. He loved the sun and the beach, and enjoyed traveling with his wife, Sharon; especially their annual visits to St. Maarten in the Caribbean. He was an avid Jeff Gordon NASCAR fan, loved music, sports and history. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sharon; two sons, Jonathan Barto of Georgetown, Del., and Jason Barto of Covington, La.; four step-children, Tony Overton, Michael Overton, Suzanne Overton-O'Hara all of Salisbury, and Lisa Larson of Alpharetta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Riley Nicole Barto and Brandon Michael Barto; 10 step-grandchildren; a brother, Christopher Barto of Fairfield, Calif.; two sisters, Michele Winn and Melissa Spencer both of Newark, Del.; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. today, March 19, 2009, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 535 Riverside Dr., Salisbury. Burial will follow at Springhill Memory Gardens off of Route 50 in Hebron. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Bounds Funeral Home on 705 East Main Street in Salisbury and Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Michael Barto preferably to the Baltimore Hope Lodge, 636 W. Lexington St., Baltimore, MD 21201.
