Michael J. Richards, Sr. passed away peacefully in his home August 27, 2022, surrounded by family.
Mr. Richards was born July 21, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of Walter and Margaret Richards.
Michael graduated from Northeast Catholic High School in 1971. He later became a truck driver, working for McLean Trucking Company for 16 years and ABF Freight for 18 years. He retired after 34 years and was briefly employed by Harrington Raceway and Casino as a driver.
In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, walking trails, fishing and watching the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Bonnie) Richards; daughter, Sandra (Jeff) LaVere; granddaughters, Kimberly, Kristin, Kayla and Kylee; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Carole (Jim) Hockensmith; brother, Jerry Richards; and sister, Mary; nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service Friday, September 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Pippin Funeral Home; where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment of cremated remains to follow Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown, DE.
