Michael Edward Stevens, 62

DOVER - Michael Edward Stevens, of Dover, departed this life on July 19, 2009, at his home in Dover. He was 62. Born on Sept. 26, 1946, in Easton, Md., he was the son of Agnes Louise Hutchins, and the late James Leroy Stevens. He attended school in Caroline County in Denton, Md. He was a self-employed car salesman. He also served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on June 1, 1973. Michael was fascinated with automobiles and the appearance of any automobile he had. One of his passions was cooking for family and friends. Michael was a people person and had many friends. Michael leaves to cherish his memory a devoted companion, Betty Harris of Dover; his loving mother, Agnes L. Hutchins of Dover, Marvin Dickerson Sr., devoted father figure; and four children, Melissa Fountain, Michelle Chandler, Ebony (James Rogers) and Dorrell Trott. He leaves behind nine siblings, Charlotte A. Hoxter of Dover, Henry "Stevie" Fountain of Dover, Marvin Dickerson Jr. of Dover, Deborah (Carlton) Bowers of North Carolina, Brenda (Marvin) McCove of Dover, Elliott Stevens of Raleigh North Carolina, Patsy Roger, Kay Stevens and Kevin Stevens, all of Wilmington; and six loving grandchildren, one aunt, one great-aunt, three uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and well wishers. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at Calvary Baptist Church, Dover. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover. There will be a viewing two hours prior to service.
