Michael B. Baynum, 47 BOWERS BEACH - Michael B. Baynum, of Bowers Beach, died Tuesday, July 29, 2008, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 47. He was born on Feb. 12, 1961, to a young Virginia Baynum, now Metzler in Lewes. Captain Mike and lifelong companion, Karen, ran the Tradewinds out of Bowers Beach for 25 years. He was a self employed carpenter and general contractor. He was proud of building their own home in which the family still resides. Captain Mike was a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2 in Dover. The Legendary Captain Mike Baynum (he'd love that) was a quick witted, out going, up front kind of person. He loved vacationing in the Outer Banks with his family and best friends. He loved his wife and kids with all of his heart and loved spending every moment with them. He also enjoyed watching his grandson Daniel Michael. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Karen A. Rogers Baynum of Bowers Beach; his mother, Virginia Metzler and her husband Bill of Bridgeville; son, Shaun Baynum and his wife Tina; grandson, Daniel Michael of Milford; daughter, Amy Baynum Conroy and her husband Patrick of Milton; and brother, Billy Metzler of Oceanview. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where friends may call one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations or contributions be mailed to Tradewinds #3, 2463 Bowers Beach Road, Frederica, DE 19946 to help with funeral and medical expenses. Letters of condolences may be sent, and guestbook signed, at torbertfuneral.com.
